The National Archives (TNA), maintains the UK National Register of Archives (NRA). The indexes to the NRA contain references to papers of c.150,000 corporate bodies, persons and families relating to British history with a further 100,000 connected records. These are held in a network of national and local record offices, university libraries and specialist repositories in the UK and abroad.
TNA’s ageing main systems were in need of upgrade or replacement to enable them to cope with increases in demand and compliance with government interoperability. The objective for this assignment was to seek funding through the development of an H.M.Treasury compliant business case that satisfied the requirements of the HMC and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
The business case outlined the strategic and business context for the business case along with the options available. Estimated costs and benefits of each option were analysed and an evaluation undertaken. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was applied along with a high level risk analysis for each option.
