The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) was established to encourage and support economic growth and prosperity in Wales. The WDA is charged with:
- Furthering economic development;
- Safeguarding employment;
- Promoting business efficiency and international competitiveness;
- Improving the environment, and;
- Promoting community development.
Their world wide operations are now facing far more competition from other development agencies and countries, particularly the eastern-bloc. To support this global operation the WDA required a fully integrated, knowledge based, timely and efficient systems and technology infrastructure. In short a new Information Systems and Technology Strategy was required that would:
- Effectively support the ongoing operations;
- Provide improved efficiency through technology and systems interoperability;
- Make economic sense by maximising the use of the current technology and systems portfolio.
Evolve was approached to assist the WDA to develop the strategy. Our approach encompassed determining with the WDA their objectives and aspirations, establishing process and information requirements, identifying candidate solutions, planning and costing and finally Strategy development.
An implementation plan was developed which included the Process and Organisational tasks as well as technology and systems implementation requirements. Evolve continued to support the WDA with a number of the operational and technical elements of the systems and technology implementation.
